Caution

Please be aware that this guide for visitors only applies to the default theme shipped with LAUTI or custom themes only modified for optics. Instance Administrators have the possibility to create themes with completely different user experience and workflows. In such cases please contact your instance administrator for guidance.

LAUTI currently provides two possibilities to subscribe to events: RSS and iCal.

Both types can be used with different scopes. This means you can subscribe to the complete event feed of the instance by using the feeds from the landing page/event feed. Additionally, you can subscribe to all groups from a group page or to a place from a place page. Also single events have an iCal link. Then you will only receive events from this group or place.

RSS

You can open the RSS feed by clicking on RSS Feed. The link can then be opened by the RSS reader of your choice or a calendar app supporting RSS.

iCal

The iCal Link is available by clicking on Add to calendar. You have two different possibilities to use ical feeds:

  1. Single import: Import the .ical file from the link a single time into your calendar app. This method has the disadvantage that you will not receive updates for the event, e.g. when time or place changes, or the event is canceled.
  2. Subscription: With this mode the events will also be added to your calendar, but the app will automatically fetch updates from the LAUTI instance. This can be realized differently for each operating system:
    • Android: Android does not support this natively, but you can use the app ICSx5. Visit their website to get guidance on how to install and use it.
    • iOS: iOS does support this natively. Use this guide to add a subscription.
    • Windows: Windows does not support this natively, we recommend Thunderbird’s calendar for that. Learn here how to set it up.
